Kashmiri Kahwa
Inclusive of all taxes · Pan-India shipping
A traditional Kashmiri kahwa — green tea leaves, real Kashmir saffron, green cardamom, cinnamon bark, cloves, and slivers of almond. Hand-blended in small batches the way it's been made in Srinagar's homes for generations. Warming, fragrant, slightly sweet without sugar.
What's in the blend.
Five ingredients. Whole, never powdered. Sourced from their respective regions of origin. No tea bags, no flavouring agents, no aroma boosters.
Green Tea
Whole leaf, lightly oxidised. Mild, gentle, the canvas of the blend.
Kashmir Saffron
Mongra-grade strands. The signature note — gold colour, floral aroma.
Green Cardamom
Whole pods, freshly cracked. Bright, citrusy lift.
Cinnamon & Cloves
Warming spices for body. Cinnamon bark, not powder. Whole cloves.
Almond Slivers
Chopped Kashmir almonds. Nutty texture in every sip.
The drink of Kashmiri winters.
Kahwa is not just tea in Kashmir — it's a daily ritual that punctuates winter mornings, welcomes guests, and ends meals. Brewed in copper samovars, sipped from small cups, sweetened by the saffron and almonds rather than added sugar. The recipe has barely changed in 300 years.
We blend ours in small batches in Belgaum, using saffron sourced directly from Pampore and cardamom, cinnamon and cloves from their respective heartlands. The almonds are Kashmiri — smaller, harder, more aromatic than the imported variety.
How to brew it right.
Measure
1 heaped teaspoon of the blend per cup. For a small pot serving 4, use 4-5 teaspoons. The blend already contains everything — no need to add anything.
Boil & steep
Bring water to a gentle boil, add the blend, let steep for 4-5 minutes on low heat. Do not over-boil — green tea turns bitter past 80°C.
Strain
Through a fine sieve into your cup. The almond slivers will collect at the bottom — let them drift into the cup if you like the texture.
Sweeten (optional)
Traditionally served unsweetened. If you'd like, add a teaspoon of our raw honey — never sugar. The almonds and saffron carry their own subtle sweetness.

Common questions.
How much caffeine does kahwa have?
Less than regular tea or coffee. The base is green tea, which has roughly 20-30mg of caffeine per cup — about a third of a cup of coffee. Most people drink it in the morning or evening without sleep issues.
Should I add sugar or milk?
Traditionally, kahwa is served without milk and only lightly sweetened — if at all — with honey, never sugar. The saffron and almond slivers provide natural sweetness and body. Try it unsweetened first; it's how Kashmiris drink it.
Is the saffron in the blend real Kashmir saffron?
Yes. We use the same Mongra-grade Kashmir saffron we sell separately on the site. You'll see actual saffron strands in the blend — not powder, not yellow colouring, not synthetic saffron substitutes. The price reflects this.
Can I drink it cold? Make iced kahwa?
Absolutely. Brew it hot as usual, strain, let it cool to room temperature, then refrigerate. Serve over ice with a squeeze of orange or a few mint leaves. Beautiful in summer.
How many cups does a pack make?
The 100g pack yields approximately 40 cups (using 1 heaped tsp per cup). The 50g pack ~20 cups, the 250g pack ~100 cups. Most regular drinkers go through a 100g pack in about 5-6 weeks.
